•    Updated version of the Manchester Twitter Report released
•    Manchester City crowned champions as United miss an open goal

Manchester digital marketing agency theEword (http://theeword.co.uk/) has joined forces with local social media marketing agency Juice Digital (http://www.juicedigital.co.uk/home/Home.aspx) to offer a free introduction to social media.

The event, called Social Media. Sorted, takes place from 6pm till 8pm on Wednesday 28 July 2010 in thestudio at The Hive on Lever Street, Manchester. Entry is free but tickets must be booked beforehand at http://theeword.co.uk/twitter-event.php.

Social Media. Sorted will feature talks from four of Manchester's leading social media experts:

•    Is Manchester the social media capital of Europe? by Steve Downes, managing director of Juice Digital.
•    How Manchester uses Twitter by Al Mackin, managing director of theEword.
•    How to avoid legal problems in social media by Mel McGuirk, media partner at Manchester law firm Pannone.
•    Why is Manchester the greatest city in the world? by Nick Massey, chief executive of charity Forever Manchester.

To celebrate the launch of Social Media. Sorted, theEword will share an updated version of the Manchester Twitter Report (http://theeword.co.uk/manchester-twitter-report.php). This landmark paper now identifies which of Greater Manchester's sports teams and serving politicians have the best official Twitter accounts.

In the sport category, Manchester City FC (@MCFC) climb to the top of the Twitter table with a remarkable 316.9 points. However, arch rivals Manchester United FC miss an open goal after admitting to theEword that they have no official presence on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, tops the politics category with 212.5 points. An extremely high engagement score shows that the Labour politician is tweeting regularly and interacting well with his Twitter followers.

Al Mackin, managing director of theEword, said: "Social Media. Sorted is a unique opportunity to discover how social media marketing can deliver incredible results. We are thrilled that Manchester's leading social media experts have agreed to share their knowledge about this exciting medium. In the Manchester Twitter Report, Manchester City are worthy champions but the lack of an official Manchester United account shows even world-famous brands can miss an open goal."
