There is an opportunity for a highly talented Software Engineer to join the TV Playback Core team, working on the iPlayer and Sounds clients for connected TV devices (Smart TVs, set-top boxes, streaming devices and games consoles), focussing on IP media playback.
The BBC offers unparalleled IPTV features for TV applications, such as Live Restart, Live Seeking, and Live UHD, and it’s the Playback Core team who make this possible. We need to ensure that all types of BBC media – video, audio, on demand, live – work seamlessly on the vast number of connected TV devices.
Collaboration is at the the heart of what we do; we follow InnerSource practices and have ambitions for our Open Source https://github.com/bbc/bigscreen-player.
The BBC is committed to redeploying employees seeking suitable alternative employment within the BBC for different reasons and they will be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants. Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk.
Working to Agile, Lean and Continuous Delivery principles we are looking for a passionate Software Engineer to join the cross discipline team responsible for IPTV playback on connected TV devices. Successful candidates will work collaboratively and be given space, autonomy and responsibility for implementation.
