The Teams
At the Government Digital Service (GDS), our mission is to build a simple, joined-up and personalised experience of government for everyone. Using our unique position at the centre of government, we develop services that work for the user, however complex the underlying systems may be. We believe that ensuring things work for end users is the only way to realise the efficiencies that come with digital transformation.

The Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) are leaders of the Digital, Data and Technology profession across government. It sets the aspiration and strategy for digitisation and builds capability so that government is equipped with the skills needed to succeed in the internet age. CDDO designs and implements standards to systems and services that are delivered in the right way.

The Role
Delivery Managers are responsible for the high performance of a highly-skilled multidisciplinary team delivering a specific product, service or transformation.
You will be core to decisions that build high performing teams, where people are excited about the work they are undertaking.
You’ll be adept at delivering complex digital projects, breaking down barriers for your team and both planning at a higher level and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed.
As a Delivery Manager, you’ll:
create great agile working environments
identify the appropriate people and resources for teams
make sure teams and programmes understand their mission, vision and goals, and that these align across the organisation
communicate and visualise progress towards these goals
manage and address risks, issues and dependencies
engage with key stakeholders on delivery progress and challenges
continually improve delivery methods and approaches to team working
encourage the team to be self-organising

We’re looking for people with strong interpersonal skills who enjoy working in a demanding, high profile agile environment. We’re interested in people with:
proven experience in delivering digital projects and products
proven experience using a range of agile project management methods
understanding of the digital landscape
experience in matrix-managing multi-disciplinary teams

If you are brought forward to interview, a task may form part of your overall assessment.
GDS offers hybrid working for all employees. This means that everyone does some working from home/remote working and also spends some time in their local office. You will agree to your hybrid working arrangement with your line manager in line with your preferences and business needs.
Please note this role can be based in one of these locations: York, Manchester, Bristol, London, Birmingham, Glasgow
* Up to £55,000 (National)-based on capability- The base salary of this grade is £49,700(National). Offers made above this will be made up with a specialist pay allowance. For more info visit our things you need to know page.
If we receive a high number of applications, we may decide to include an additional round (this would typically be a short telephone interview or assessment/exercise depending on the type of role).
A reserve list will be held for a period of 12 months, from which further appointments can be made.
Candidates that do not pass the interview, however, have demonstrated an acceptable standard will be considered for similar roles at a lower grade.
