What you'll do

You will be part of CDDO and the Data Strategy and Standards (DS&S) Directorate at an exciting time as we build a new data governance and policy function and establish a Data Architecture Design Authority to sit alongside the established Data Standards Authority. 

Our team has some big ambitions. We want to improve services for end users and improve how new policies are developed through the effective use and reuse of data. One of our areas of focus is to look at the way government manages its data and information assets more effectively. In a rapidly changing public sphere and ever evolving digital working environment it is more important than ever that Her Majesty's Government can be confident in the integrity of the information it relies on to conduct its business and promotes a culture that incentivises and enables the sharing of information and knowledge. 

As a KIRM Senior Policy Lead you’ll:

•    contribute to the definition and articulation of a strategy to transform the way that Her Majesty's Government manages its digital information
• lead on the research, analysis, and interpretation of evidence to support new policy development
• lead on the formulation of policy for information and records management, including legislative compliance, to ensure it is relevant in the digital era
• engage with multiple government organisations and groups in order to produce policy products that meet the needs of multiple stakeholders
• ensure policy and strategy outputs are well aligned with the work of colleagues in digital technology deployment and organisational change
•    produce very high-quality written communications for official and ministerial submissions, responses to parliamentary questions and Freedom of Information requests, as well as writing in styles appropriate for blogs and reports.

You will be expected to work flexibly and collaboratively on a range of projects where your expertise and skills are needed and will support a culture of agile working across your team.

This role requires:

  • interest in new approaches to organisational, behavioural and technological change, as well as an appetite to learn more about this field
  • experience of  establishing and managing positive relationships, building high levels of trust across stakeholder groups
  • ability to listen, moderate and balance views in the context of conflicting priorities to forge stakeholder consensus on policy and strategy
  • well developed skills in research, analysis and interpretation of evidence to support new policy development
  • experience of defining, commissioning and quality assuring policy and strategy products, as well as creating them
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills

CDDO offers hybrid working for all employees. This means that everyone does some working from home/remote working and also spends some time in their local office. You will agree to your hybrid working arrangement with your line manager in line with your preferences and business needs.
