What you'll do


The Portfolio Operations Support will be part of the business operations for Platform and Services and will also be part of a wider business management community of practice, a group which works across all of GDS in different teams. As part of this community, you will have the opportunity to move laterally and widen your knowledge of digital, technology and data. In addition, you will be working with the Central PMO on establishing and following best practice, as well as ensuring processes are refined through a continuous improvement model. 

You will have a sound knowledge and experience of financial, procurement and resourcing practices, as well as an excellent understanding of operational delivery, organisational governance and management information reporting.

We’re interested in people who have:

  • knowledge and experience of business management (financial, procurement, workforce planning) and demonstrable administration and support skills, with strong attention to detail
  • demonstrable experience in analysing and reporting on management information and driving effective decision making using accurate and concise data 
  • excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to communicate concisely and coherently to a wide variety of audiences 
  • demonstrable experience in delivering to tight deadlines, and able to prioritise requests from multiple teams, particularly senior management team
  • demonstrable experience in supporting teams to meet compliance requirements like information management
  • demonstrable knowledge and experience working in programme/ portfolio environments with exposure to governance and delivery (RAID Logs, Planning & Scheduling, Finance Control, Delivery Tracking etc.) and awareness of agile delivery approaches


Please note this role can be based in London, Manchester, Bristol, York, Birmingham and Glasgow. 

GDS offers hybrid working for all employees. This means that everyone does some working from home/remote working and also spends some time in their local office. You will agree your hybrid working arrangement with your line manager in line with your preferences and business need.

 


A reserve list will be held for a period of 12 months, from which further appointments can be made.

 

Candidates that do not pass the interview, however have demonstrated an acceptable standard will be considered for similar roles at a lower grade.
