Senior Analyst - Transforming Services - CDDO

What you'll do

As a member of the wider Analysis team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of high profile analytical projects. You will be trusted with the analysis of public services, further building the organisation’s evidence base on digitally transforming public facing services. 

As Senior Analyst for Transforming Public Services in CDDO you’ll:

  • Be a trusted advisor regarding the economic analysis of the digital transformation of public services and build CDDO’s existing analytical capability to help build the evidence base for Mission One - Transformed public services, of the “Transforming for a digital future” strategy
  • Lead analysis for 6-8 week ‘deep dive’ projects into specific government services that produce evidence-based recommendations for action. Where key key areas are identified, you will be responsible for producing high quality reports combining deep insights from quantitative data analysis with robust qualitative evidence gathered through fieldwork  
  • Creating ‘Size of the Prize’ analysis of the potential benefits and savings of fully digitising government services
  • Supporting the 'Service Framework', contributing to CDDO's analytical processing for determining the performance of services, determining which services are 'great' services and advising on opportunities for improvements
  • Working closely with many teams across HMG to understand the successes and challenges to unlocking service efficiency and usability
  • Scoping, evidencing and evaluating a variety of the different levers and interventions to unlock efficiency savings in how services are delivered across HMG
  • Support the Strategy Team with and the wider organisation with bespoke economic analysis on complex and novel projects, including for HMT fiscal events
  • Engagement regularly with senior officials within CDDO, as well as the wider Cabinet Office, HMT and Government departments to champion the evidence base

Whilst this is an existing role, over the long-term the post holder will have the opportunity to shape the way forward, creating the most effective work packages to deliver on the organisations wider agenda.


Who you'll be

We’re looking for people with strong analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills who enjoy working in a fast paced, agile environment.

The post holder will have some experience of working in high-performing teams producing top-quality analysis to multiple customers and managing various deadlines.

The role available requires intellectual curiosity; self-confidence and belief in your own abilities and judgement; good communication, analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills. You should also be able to communicate your ideas and decision making effectively and take a leadership role when required, collaborate and partner with others and deliver results at pace.

We’re interested in people who have:

  • strong analytical skills
  • ability to breakdown and solve complex and novel problems
  • ability to translate complex and broad material into clear written or oral communications
  • ability to work at pace by providing analysis and advice at the right time
  • experience of influencing stakeholders and establishing strong working relationships with colleagues
  • understanding and experience in the application of the Green Book techniques in Business Cases

Desirable:

  • Experiencing analysis user facing services
  • Experience of data manipulation, visualisation and analysis using programming skills in as Python

 The standard selection process for roles at CDDO consists of:

CDDO offers hybrid working for all employees. This means that everyone does some working from home/remote working and also spends some time in their local office. You will agree to your hybrid working arrangement with your line manager in line with your preferences and business needs. 

If we receive a high number of applications, we may decide to include an additional round (this would typically be a short telephone interview or assessment/exercise depending on the type of role).

A reserve list will be held for a period of 12 months, from which further appointments can be made.

Candidates that do not pass the interview, however, have demonstrated an acceptable standard will be considered for similar roles at a lower grade.
