As a Strategic Projects Strategy Lead you’ll:

  • Sit within the wider Strategy, Analysis and System Reform team, which sets the strategy and direction for CDDO and the cross-government DDaT function
  • Own and lead discrete workstreams within high priority strategic projects for the DDaT function.
  • Work with senior leadership to develop and iterate new ideas, turning them into concrete propositions and drafted content quickly and with confidence.
  • Represent CDDO in meetings across government. You will have to build and maintain effective relationships with other functions, officials at the centre of government and in other departments to develop, iterate and drive the delivery of actions and to ensure projects are working to achieve their objectives.
  • Provide excellent qualitative and quantitative analysis: identifying and prioritising the most important findings and drawing on a range of sources
  • Communicate strategic recommendations clearly, both verbally and in visual presentation formats.
  • Work flexibly on a project basis and quickly pick up new strategic priorities as they arise.


Who you'll be

This role requires:

  • Experience and knowledge of broad and complex strategic work across systems, with an ability to think strategically and bring clarity and structure to uncertainty when developing policy.
  • Experience and skills in developing quantitative and qualitative analysis at pace to support strategic decision-making; An ability to translate complex and broad material - both qualitative and quantitative - into clear written or oral analysis and communications, including briefings and presentations; 
  • Excellent quality in delivery and an ability to operate effectively and flexibly in a fast paced, political and  complex environment;
  • Experience and enthusiasm for leading a team, including coaching and developing others, to ensure a high performing, highly engaged and happy unit.
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships, and credibly engaging with and influencing senior leaders and external influencers.
