You will provide technical and architectural consultancy in support of CDL products operating in public, private or hybrid cloud environments, assist with design, implementation, development, troubleshooting, problem resolution and service maintenance. Provide pre-sales advice and guidance to clients for configuration and integration to meet business requirements. Lead technical design, evaluation and integration of CDL products and services. Provide input to processes to that systems are designed based on automation, ensure scalability, security and manageability of CDL services.   Provide consultancy and guidance on automation, resilience and high availability scenarios of CDL software and services.

Position In Organisation

  • Reports to Head of Software Engineering
  • Direct contact with CDL Relationship Managers and clients’ senior business and technical contacts to advise on appropriate solutions
  • Systems architectural input to CDL product design, development and review processes

Scope Of Job

  • Work Management – maintain personal work allocation within agreed service levels
  • Technical Consultancy – identify client business requirements and propose, design and configure systems to meet these
  • Solution Architecture Development – provide direct input to CDL design, development and product review processes
  • Research and Development – propose, develop and report on new technology and platform evaluation 
  • Client Liaison – attend customer meetings to provide technical solution design and consultancy support to Relationship Managers 
  • Client Support – provide solution specification, installation, integration and documentation support for client and CDL systems. 
  • Skills Transfer – provide training and documentation for Software Engineering staff to develop CDL solution build and maintenance skills
  • Commercial – maintain an awareness of client and organisational requirements
  • Communication – ensure appropriate lines of communication are established with client representatives and Relationship Managers
  • Financial – maintain controls for usage of systems 

Dimensions & Limits Of Authority

  • Manage own time to ensure service delivery in all areas of work
  • Recommend technology solutions to meet client requirements
  • Recommend product design parameters to meet CDL solution performance, functionality and manageability requirements.
  • Take ownership of technical solutions throughout their lifecycles or projects
  • Delight clients through meeting and exceeding their expectations


  • Educated to HNC/HND level standard in a vocational qualification in an IT related subject


  • Extensive knowledge of public cloud platforms, AWS is preferable
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code and automation approaches
  • Knowledge of operating systems, Windows/Linux
  • Knowledge of hardware, systems, networking and security (experience of standards based compliant environments such as PCI-DSS preferable)
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation of application lifeycle, pipelines and processes 
  • Experience of providing technical advice to clients, colleagues and non-technical people
