We are looking for a Delivery Manager who comes with a track record of being an exceptional leader in a technology delivery function. They will have evolved from a strong background in hands on delivery across a range of technologies and methodologies.

What you’ll be responsible for in this role? 

  • Take senior responsibility for full end to end Initiative delivery, through implementing, managing and helping to continuously improve the squads’ scaled agile processes.
  • Work with squads within the Initiative to help them define their mission and goals. Make sure that they have iterative delivery plans to work towards, and that everyone is clear on how they contribute towards achieving those goals.
  • Support the squads to maintain their delivery pace and removes escalated obstacles, impediments and blockers that might get in the way of their delivery.
  • Support cross-squad working, making sure that squads effectively collaborate, communicate and focus on what is most important for delivery of value.
  • Lead and champion the preferred delivery methodology ensuring that agile first principles are followed, ensuring parity with other Initiatives.
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement encouraging simplicity, efficiency, ownership and accountability.
  • Be a key contributor in the running of an effective management team within software development. This will include planning, budgeting, resourcing and other general management issues.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other Initiative leads to ensure the solutions they deliver meet the customer and business needs for Covéa and affiliated companies.

What would we like to see in you? 

  • Extensive experience in managing delivery teams in digital product environments, using agile and scaled agile models / structures (and identifying when and how to use different approaches).
  • Fundamental understanding and ability to manage Initiative budgets for resourcing, technical expenditure and service support.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to effectively support the delivery flow of the Initiative, leading to sustainable improvements over time, and to manage internal and external risks, issues and dependencies (and removes blockers that affect the squads’ ability to deliver).
  • Able to effectively manage stakeholders’ expectations and be capable of proactive and reactive communications. Able to inspire and influence stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience in leadership / line management.
  • Can effectively facilitate difficult discussions within squads, Initiatives(s), and with diverse senior stakeholders, up to and including Board-level.
  • Demonstrate technical understanding and competence to enable them to have credible discussions with Initiative members.
  • Able to work with delivery community to continuously review processes and seek improvements, experimenting with new ideas and encouraging a mind-set of experimentation.
  • Experience of leading and embedding change, able to influence and drive culture and behaviours within an IT environment. Encouraging a culture of feedback and collaboration.
  • Highly motivated and self-starting with a personal drive for continuous development.
