DWP is the UK's largest government department. We're working on a once-in-a-generation of products and services used by millions of people every day.

We're looking for Senior Agile Delivery Managers to empower our multi-disciplinary digital teams to deliver Digital Integration team portfolio of systems including legacy services into new agile ways of working and building new digital services. Say API anyone? We also provide integration to numerous other government projects.

For these roles you'll be enabling your team to move away from a waterfall model to a more Agile approach so you should enjoy the challenges this brings and be along for the ride.

 

Delivery. Work. People: A Day in the life of an Senior Agile Delivery Manager

As both servant and leader to your team. You'll guard their time, and protect their ability to deliver. You're also a senior voice in our practice and you'll help grow capability and confidence in our brilliant Delivery community.

When a technical problem arises that needs a solution you frame the work as a learning problem for your team to enable them to creatively and collaboratively come up with a solution.

You know how to get your team to recognise that it's important to deliver value early and to learn and adapt to our citizens evolving needs in a complex world.

You foster an environment of continuous validation with Agile standards of respect, openness, and courage. You create an environment of psychological safety for your multi-disciplinary team. You encourage open and honest conversations. You mitigate against micro-management. You deliver projects by giving motivated and skilled individuals the trust, autonomy and conditions to do their thing.

You ask lots of questions hereby instilling the value in seeking quick feedback . 

Your role as an Agile Delivery Manager is to enable the work, and not impose how it's done.

You make the work visible to stakeholders. You will arrange demos from the user researchers, designers and developers. You give your team the chance to share progress and their work to date, so we can get feedback, consider solutions and suggestions long before the story reaches production.

What skills knowledge and experience are we looking for?

  • Experience of delivering software in an agile environment in multiple phases
  • Promoting a culture of psychological safety in teams, managing team dynamics. Actively contribute to enabling teams to work in a better way
  • The ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner at all levels
  • Having a proactive approach to learning and development of yourself and others

You'll join our teams in either Blackpool, Leeds or Newcastle-upon-Tyne and also from home. To enable our hybrid model, we provide the tech and tools we need to enable our people to work flexibly, and many of us are working remotely at the moment due to COVID-19.
