WHAT TO EXPECT
We’re looking for an experienced Product Owner – Privacy and Legislation to support our skilled team of data architects, data scientists and platform developers. You will be JLR Manchester’s Privacy Champion on all data protection queries and related policies, standards and processes. You will also maintain an awareness of the (non-privacy) policy, legislative, regulatory and operational constraints in which we operate and ensure they are fed into the design process.
You form part of our Privacy Compliance Governance Structure within Engineering and will have a direct link into our Engineering Data Privacy Compliance Lead taking direction and guidance on data compliance processes and transferring that knowledge into working practices for our data and development teams in Manchester.
You will run regular information and knowledge sharing sessions with our teams ensuring that all members are up to date and appraised of their responsibilities and accountabilities.
This role is a unique opportunity to help define, support and grow a digital capability within Jaguar Land Rover and to support the deployment of privacy engineering solutions.
You’ll have opportunities to contribute to the strategic direction of JLR Manchester and the projects we deliver, as well as inspiring and influencing the wider organisation as we transform how Jaguar Land Rover builds and operates digital vehicles, together.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Supporting the Platform management team to deploy the centralised privacy by design and impact assessment activities, turning those requirements into practical rules of the road and online solutions for digital product teams
Ensuring data protection compliance in design by helping digital product teams undertake the privacy impact assessments (PIAs) to assess and mitigate risks
Maintain an awareness of the (non-privacy) policy, legislative, regulatory and operational constraints in which we operate and ensure they are fed into the design process.
Working alongside the Engineering Data Privacy Compliance Lead, Developing the operational privacy processes, identify areas of improvement and embedding these changes
The key point of contact for day-to-day data protection and privacy queries for the Digital Delivery Centre
Oversee the team’s PII Data Inventory for Digital Delivery Centre Manchester
Ensuring the teams have everything they need to succeed and their processes are optimal
Playing a key role in developing team culture and spirit
Providing metrics and reporting to line management
What You’ll Need
Extensive experience of operationalising data governance and data privacy processes
Working in a compliance, data governance or compliance role that involves privacy and data protection and understanding of key principles of data protection legislation (GDPR, ePrivacy)
Experience of communicating and influencing to build strong networks and relationships, internally and externally
Understanding of data governance processes
An ability to deal with executive and board level stakeholders
Experience of working collaboratively across a diverse set of stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
