WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Working with our best in class technology teams in Manchester you will be part of the full development lifecycle: designing, building and running microservice based applications and developing our in-house Internal Developer Platform. You'll help support the development teams in creating robust, reusable cloud infrastructure, deployed with a security first and customer focused mindset.

 

Working closely alongside the development teams you'll be driving initiatives to eliminate toil through automation, ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of the system, and be a strong advocate for observability and monitoring. You'll learn and grow along the way, and we'll give you the tools, tactics and career progression to be successful in our DevSecOps environment

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Work with product teams to ensure systems are secure, scalable and reliable

  • Drive initiatives to automate processes and reduce toil

  • Review deployment and operational environments, troubleshoot issues and managing technical operations

  • Evangelise monitoring and alerting for application observability

  • Advocate for DevOps practices and have experience building CI/CD pipelines

  • Work as part of a Global Site Reliability Engineering squad to ensure applications are effectively supported and monitored and that manual work is minimised

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential

 

  • 2+ years in a Site Reliability Engineering or similar role.

  • Working knowledge of containerised apps and the SDLC.

  • Knowledge of at least one public cloud platform (GCP, AWS, Azure etc.) and ideally working knowledge of Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform) and scripting languages (Bash / Python).

  • Understanding of basic networking concepts, technologies, and protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, HTTP(S), FTP, DHCP, DNS).

  • Experience with SCM systems (Git / GitHub / GitLab) and modern CI/CD tools and techniques.
