KPMG's Technology Risk Consulting team is focused on providing consultancy, advice and assurance on our clients' technology risks and controls. The market is evolving at pace and innovating, whilst embracing the digital age. We deliver our work through consulting projects, focused on risk and control assurance, supporting teams across the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defence. Through our Connected Consulting model, we work closely with other service lines to deliver end-to-end transformation programmes for our Clients.

 

The team

The role will sit within the Corporates Technology Risk team and support the newly formed UK Corporate Governance Reform team which brings together several of our Consulting service lines to build a market leading Controls Framework offering for our Clients. The new offering will work with Clients to strengthen their internal governance and controls environment taking them beyond compliance and positioning internal controls at the centre of business transformation to drive operating efficiency and effectiveness.

 

The role

You will work within the UK Corporate Governance Reform team to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Delivery of corporate governance and internal control transformation programmes for clients: manage multi-faceted Client programmes throughout their lifecycle, from origination, to delivery, to quality control and closure
  • Further development of corporate governance reform offering: contribute to the strategy of the UK controls framework offering, shaping the assets and methodologies which will form KPMG’s intellectual property and go to market approach
  • Responding to RFPs and bids for client projects: own relationships with technology leaders at our Clients to identify opportunities for improvement in their business and originate engagements for KPMG

 

Daily tasks are expected to include:

  • Identify new business opportunities, participate in the firm’s development of a proposition in response to the government’s strategy on UK corporate governance reform
  • Contribute to proposals and Client RFPs, including structuring the response document, completing KPMG’s risk procedures, and organising a delivery team
  • Assemble and direct teams to deliver high quality work product for clients, and own the delivery of these engagements taking responsibility for overall quality and outputs
  • Develop lasting client relationships with C-suite level technology leaders and actively building a network and range of experience to help address client needs
  • Provide compelling and well thought out solutions to complex problems
  • Work with Partners, Directors and the wider team in the Technology Risk and Control area - focused on IT control framework implementation and uplift, controls improvement and control automation
  • Identify and clearly communicate performance improvement opportunities and leading practices to client personnel and senior management and work with partners to assist in practice management including resource allocation, career development of staff, and other administration decisions
  • Support in the hiring, coaching and development of the team.
  • Link into global and cross industry working groups to share knowledge
  • Identify revenue-generating opportunities and get involved in business development activities such as proposal writing, pitch presentations
  • Build and develop relationships with key internal and external contacts to embed technology risk and control into other propositions
  • Create thought leadership and participate in market forums to enhance KPMG’s brand

 

Skills, qualifications, and experience

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • A specialist understanding of IT risk and controls and impact on the business control environment
  • Ability to identify and assess complex technology risks and controls, to relate them to the wider business environment and to express opinions clearly to all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to identify business opportunities, lead project engagements, attract new business, and build lasting professional relationships with senior client executives
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • An aptitude for embracing and adapting to new technology
  • Ability to spot opportunities to add value to clients and work with colleagues in other lines of service to help clients find solutions to the challenges they face
  • Ability to work flexibly in terms of working hours to accommodate tight timelines and manage well under pressure
  • Experience of managing business and IT stakeholders from across the company at all levels of seniority
  • A strong understanding of technology platforms
  • Expert level knowledge of different operating systems, databases, networking, security concepts and technologies from an IT risk and controls perspective
  • Experience of working on tenders and large proposals
  • Demonstrate professional scepticism - proven track record of compliance with quality standards and an ability to balance an efficient and compliance audit
  • Understanding of the government’s proposals in relation to UK corporate governance reform, the potential impact for Clients, and how KPMG can support in Clients in their journey
  • Experience in evaluating control design and operating effectiveness under SOX 404, ICOFR assessment and internal audit experience is essential
  • Experience of fee negotiations and negotiating scope changes with clients
