This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on Greater Manchester's digital and technology businesses. The head of operations will play a key role in developing the profile and membership of Manchester Digital and the success of the sector more generally. You will be responsible for delivering the organisation's strategy and targets as well as the day-to-day management of the team. You will be able to use the insights and intelligence gathered from the membership to create products, projects and initiatives that are highly valued by our membership and will help address their barriers to growth. You will be an experienced manager with a commercial mindset who is used to delivering against ambitious targets and motivating a small team.

Key Objectives and Accountabilities

  • Working with the managing director to develop an ambitious membership strategy and set team goals and objectives.

  • Driving revenue and ensuring that the team meet their ambitious commercial targets. 

  • Mentor and motivate a small busy team and support them to define their priorities and meet objectives and targets.

  • Spot opportunities and gaps in the market where Manchester Digital can develop new products and services.

  • Review and improve processes and procedures to enable the business to scale more efficiently.

  • Ensure activity between the events, marketing and membership team is connected and cohesive and that we are optimising the strengths of the team.

  • Work with the head of talent and skills to ensure that we are maximising the benefit of our talent and skills activity across the membership.

  • Develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and members.

  • Maintain and manage monthly forecasts and provide monthly reports to the managing director on membership growth and events revenue.

  • Oversee the marketing strategy and ensure that all social and direct comms are reflective of Manchester Digital, written to a high standard and relevant to our audience.

  • Drive the creation, uptake and success of the Manchester Digital Forums in specific areas such as fintech, AI and cyber.

  • Understanding of the role the digital and technology sector plays in the Greater Manchester economy.


Person Specification



Experience

Experience  of managing and motivating teams. 

Proven track record of delivery  against  strategic objectives.


Knowledge and Skills

Commercially minded and comfortable with revenue based targets.

Balance competing priorities

Able to develop senior level relationships with businesses and public sector stakeholders..

Ability to motivate a team

Effective management and delegation.

Able to understand a multi-faceted business operation.

Education and Qualifications

There isn’t a formal qualification required for this role as experience is much more important. There will be an opportunity to request additional training/support to meet some requirements of the role.
