We’re looking for lead technical delivery managers to join our Technology team here at Co-op as we enter an exciting period of transformation. We’re making our organisation fit for the future, investing in our IT function, bringing in new technologies and working in a more agile way. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience of delivering small and large scale change in technology, where you will be given autonomy to lead the delivery end-to-end, always looking for innovation opportunities.

As a lead technical delivery manager, we’ll look to you to deliver complex technology products and services with the support of multiple teams. You’ll be removing blockers and managing technical and business risks, as well as looking after commercials, budgets and resources. You’ll be responsible for the quality of service and delivery in a particular area in the business (such as Stores and Branch, Funeralcare, Logistics) and lead the ongoing operations for all applications within your cluster. If you can bring us the technical experience we need combined with excellent communication skills, we can offer you the chance to lead on something with a phenomenal impact.

What you’ll do

•    take ownership for the delivery of complex technology products and services that are being delivered in your area, to an appropriate level of quality, 24/7
• understand all risks within the assigned technology scope and make sure that suitable mitigations are in place in line and are considered in future budgets
• matrix-manage a multidisciplinary team, making sure it has the right mix of skills needed to deliver
• create a culture of continuous improvement, actively seeking feedback and acting on it
• co-ordinate and manage third party supplier delivery
• lead a continual planning process in a very complex environment which spans beyond product delivery
•    optimise the delivery flow of teams and identify the most complicated risks, issues and dependencies

This role would suit people who have

•    previous experience delivering a mixed portfolio of projects and products across multiple teams
• the ability to challenge behaviours and ways of working within an organisation
• experience working with multiple delivery methodologies
• the ability to balancing multiple priorities and deal with ambiguity
• experience working in and managing multi-disciplinary teams
• great people coaching skills
• strong communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation
•    exceptional collaboration skills and above all a team player

Why Co-op?

Here you’ll do work that matters. We’re a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, you’ll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You’ll also get a package that includes:

•    competitive salary
• coaching, training and support to help you develop
• pension with up to 10% employer contributions
• annual incentive scheme
• 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service)
•    discounts on Co-op products and services

Building an inclusive work environment

We’re actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone. But simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We aim to build an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences, and recognise the importance of teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We can make reasonable adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. And we offer a flexible working environment so you can adjust your hours to suit your personal circumstances. You can find out more about Co-op people policies at coop.co.uk/peoplepolicies.

As part of your application you’ll need to complete an online assessment. It will take you around 12 minutes to complete this test.
