"You can't be what you can't see"
While Ada Lovelace is where it all began we know that current and future generations of women may not initially resonate with her. That's where you come in, as part of our Digital Futures programme we are hosting an event to celebrate and showcase the diversity of amazing women in tech and their achievements.
You can't be what you can't see. Help us change that. We'll be working with groups of young woman from local Greater Manchester schools and colleges to raise their awareness and exposure to the many faces of women in tech and the many pathways open to them. We also want to enthuse them by getting hands-on with digital skills.
Calling all women in tech: Are you or your employer a member of Manchester Digital? We want to hear from inspirational women in digital and tech roles who are interested in helping educate and encourage young women to consider a career in our industry whilst helping them discover what their ‘possible’ is. We are looking for a number of role models who can help mentor the young girls (aged between 12-13 years of age) who will be attending our Ada Lovelace event whilst helping to support workshops and activities on the day.
We are also looking for additional role models who would be happy to submit a role model profile to be used during the day to inspire and educate our young girls on their new generation Ada Lovelace's.
If so, get in touch with [email protected] to register your interest by cop Friday 27th July 2018.
Format of the day:
Invite only breakfast roundtable
Meet & greet
What is Ada Lovelace Day?
Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). It aims to increase the profile of women in STEM and, in doing so, create new role models who will encourage more girls into STEM careers and support women already working in STEM.
