Founding Engineer – AutoWatt

We’ve built and field-tested the first version of our inspection app.
Now we’re preparing for a major industry pilot and looking for a founding engineer to help scale the platform — the API layer, data architecture, and workflow engine that ties everything together.

About AutoWatt
AutoWatt builds simple, hard-wearing tools that help engineers keep electrical systems safe, compliant, and performing at their best.
The app is already live in the field, now it’s time to turn those real-world insights into a connected, scalable SaaS product.

You’ll be working with
A Toptal developer already delivering key modules, so you’ll be steering the overall architecture and platform design, not starting from zero.

The founder on translating compliance and inspection into deliverable products.

What you’ll shape

• API and data architecture connecting field apps, reporting, and asset workflows

• Automation logic for inspections, follow-ups, and client reporting

• The SaaS backbone that supports electrical and O&M teams at scale

What we’re looking for

• Strong backend / full-stack skills (Node, Python, Supabase, Firebase, etc.)

• Experience designing scalable systems and clean data models

• A builder’s mindset and appetite for ownership
