About this role
One of the key pillars of BT’s strategy is the security and the ‘safe to connect’ of the services we offer to our customers, alongside the security and protection of our infrastructure, networks and information. At the heart of this strategy is the Cyber and Security Engineering team (CSE), where we design, defend, protect and operate our cyber and security capabilities across BT’s products and services.

CSE unit deliveres and deploys end-to-end cyber and security capabilities across BT, as platform owners. Our mission is to build the most secure network and services, a key brand differentiator for BT and our other brands, EE, Plusnet and Openreach. We aim to put BT on security ‘gartner’ alike global lead.
We are responsible for keeping BT and EE, globally, available during cyber attack, and operating various network and real-time capabilities for attack detection, prevention and analysis. We defend the business, and in support of that, we also deploy new capabilities, ensure those capabilities are operational, have adequate capacity, and maintain their visibility/reach.

The Cyber Specialist will be responsible for cyber security design and technical leadership of a technical domain in the CSE unit, including the deployment of cyber capabilities of Network Cloud.
You'll have the following responsibilities
- Responsible for the delivery of the Cyber and Security programme of work within agreed budget through concept to market framework.
- Responsible for capturing, understanding and translating forecast, demand and change control, including un-forecasted new demand. Secure delivery resources for ‘steel thread’ activity, work with the platform team and across Networks to ensure resources are aligned.
- Own and drives the delivery of Cyber and Security projects, such as product development and deployment and capacity upgrades, including decom and closure.
- Specialist role for the complex delivery functions, which may include new significant capability launch, complex decommissioning programmes with complex mass migration of customers and interdependencies across wider technology space.
- Designs and drives delivery improved working processes, including the simplification and integration
- Leads on overall delivery of large scale complex projects / programmes to achieve required business benefits.
- Will have technical knowledge of current and future capabilities and an in-depth understanding of commercial and business risks associated with deliveries
- Owns the specialist area including any business cases / commercial justification. Responsible for 'whole life cost' and/or 3rd party operational budget from forecasting to implementation.
- Manages project milestones / quality with appropriate project documentation. Ensures confidence of all key stakeholders by authoring and delivering a suite of tailored reports
- Confidence to both evaluate and prioritise own and others demands to deliver the overall business needs
- Own and drive a continual evolution of processes and tools that will underpin the delivery framework of the specialist project
- Inspire through transformation and ensure a high performance and skill culture is embedded across the end to end process.
- The role holder will manage all relevant project/programme risks and issues; managing expectations as appropriate with our stakeholders, customers and or business unit/LoB teams. Owning or identifying risk owner and ensuring issue resolution
- Delivering positive engagement and organisational health across the team. Ensuring that the resources utilised during the life of the project (people, technology and budgets) are managed effectively, with robust stakeholder engagement.
- Providing support and mentoring to the wider team where needed, for example by providing training and knowledge calls
- Monitoring and checking vendor performance and holding vendor reviews on the performance ; vendor negotiation
- Use the correct working and booking practices
You'll have the following skills & experience
- Expert on project and delivery management, underpinned by the respective certifications/qualifications.
- Excellent influencing, negotiations skills to drive the right business outcomes.
- Experience on managing large scale and complex platforms with multivendor. Knowledge of project management and delivery.
- Self-confidence to challenge and drive process and capability improvements
- Excellent Stakeholder management
- Story-telling with data: strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences
- In depth knowledge of the full end to end platform design and build principles.
- Expert on technical project and delivery management, underpinned by the respective certifications/qualifications.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation skills to drive the right business outcomes.
- Excellent presentation skills of delivery plans, progress, issues and risk mitigations – clear and concise plan on a page.
- Capable of interacting and developing effective relationships with peers and senior leaders.
- Understanding of BT’s Cyber and Security Engineering, operational and change processes.
- Manage your own time effectively. Meet agreed targets and develop plans for specific work activities / projects as required
