Job summary
We are looking for a Business Analyst to join a small team shaping the future of our digital delivery portfolio.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure digital solutions for users aligned to business needs and objectives. You will be expected to provide the ‘bridge’ between the business and technology, acting as an advocate for the business and supporting the delivery team.
Job description
As a Business Analyst, you will:
- Analyse and understand business problems or opportunities.
- Undertake research and analysis to understand how a business or business area works, considering the people, organisation, processes, information, data and technology.
- Identify areas for improvement, explore feasible options, analyse the effects of change and define success measures.
- Identify and elaborate user and business needs to enable effective design, development and testing of services and business change.
- Make decisions related to prioritisation and minimum viable product by using analysis led insights.
- Ensure new products and services meet business and user needs, and are aligned with organisational goals.
- Understand any business and policy constraints that need to be considered, and assess the implications.

Person specification
You will provide business analysis expertise to define and validate digital solutions, products and services, ensuring they are aligned to the programme's objectives.
To be successful in this role you will be a team player who has a passion for delivering a high end service. You will have an analytical mindset, capable of capturing, breaking down and simplifying the information for our stakeholders. You will be a critical thinker able to analyse, prioritise and translate requirements distinctly into user stories.

A minimum of 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.

In your Personal Statement (1000 words) please provide evidence of how your technical skills and experience make you a good fit for the role, and evidence of your Business Analyst experience, including examples of:
- Applying structured approaches to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate complex business problems and opportunities, within a defined project.
- Identifying and comparing the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes.
- Analysing business goals, objectives, functions and processes, using relevant information and data to support the definition of requirements.
- Using appropriate management life cycle methods to complete tasks and outputs related to the project.
- Must have experience working as a Business Analyst in a digital delivery environment.
- Working experience of Visio BPMN, Mural, Excel and Jira/Agility.
- Demonstrable experience of leading business analysis in large and complex projects.
Sift & Interview Dates
The sift is due to take place from 23rd September 2024.
Interviews are due to take place from 7th October 2024.
This interview could be conducted via a video interview, details of which will be provided to you should you be selected for interview.

This post is offered on a Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) basis to complete a finite piece of work. However, there could be potential of permanency.
Permanent Civil Servants will not be expected to change their employment status from permanent to fixed term appointment.
