We're looking for 2 Lead Technical Architects (Software), to join our Transformation and Technology Directorate to help us achieve this.

Job description

Reporting to the Head of Solution & Software Architecture, Lead Technical Architects provide architectural and technology leadership to specific work streams/domains . We are looking for two Lead Technical Architects with expertise in creating software based solutions to support our digitalisation and modernisation activities, in alignment with our Technology Strategy. 

There will be frequent travel required to the Plymouth office to work with colleagues. Please note that due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.

HMLR believe that a blended approach to where you work that enables some time working from home, as well as in the office may give you an improved experience and has clear business benefits, therefore we expect everyone to spend at least 60% of their working time in the office.

Person specification

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • be responsible for leading the technical design of systems and services, justifying and communicating design decisions
  • assure other services and system quality, ensuring the technical work fits into the broader strategy for government
  • explore the benefits of cross-government alignment
  • provide mentoring within teams
  • provide leadership to other architects

The move from our current location (CV1 3BH) will happen in phases, with all staff due to have moved to Cheylesmore House by July 2024.

Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Strengths, Experience and Technical skills.

  • Turning business problems into technical design: You can design systems characterised by high levels of risk, impact, and business or technical complexity.

Interviews are due to take place week commencing Monday 10 June 2024.
