Digital Markets Summer Diversity Internship

Competition and Markets Authority -

Internship/ Placement
£23,199 per annum (which calculates to be approximately £445 on a weekly basis)
Published on
24 March 2023
Deadline
11 April 2023

With digital markets rapidly evolving and the largest digital firms increasingly holding uniquely powerful positions across our daily lives, the DMU was established to promote greater competition and innovation in digital markets. We work to ensure consumer interests are protected and markets remain competitive so challengers can bring new innovations and incumbent platforms do not abuse their dominance. What we do matters, and our roles offer a genuine opportunity to make a difference.

This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute and to learn about regulation in digital markets. Working across horizon scanning projects, policy and legislation, stakeholder engagement, and case work, you will gain valuable work experience, expand your knowledge of the CMA and build skills in project management, drafting, presenting, and carrying out research and analysis tasks. The internship will allow successful candidates to build knowledge and skills that will support them should they wish to apply for the CMA’s graduate scheme, or for a role in the Digital Markets Unit in the future.

In your application we would like you to tell us why you are interested in the Digital Markets Summer Diversity Internship and the CMA’s work in digital markets and what you are hoping to gain from the internship.

The CMA regularly runs internship programmes, providing both under and post graduate students the opportunity to learn first-hand experience of the vital work we do as a world leading competition authority. Our work makes a difference to millions of people across the UK and we understand that to do this effectively, we need people from all backgrounds to ensure that we make sound decisions that are representative of the different perspectives within society. As such, we are running this internship as a positive action scheme and welcome applications from talented undergraduate students, who meet the following three criteria:

Requirements to apply, candidates must meet all three listed below

  1. You’re a current university undergraduate student.
  2. You meet at least one of the diversity requirements – ethnic minority, socio-economically disadvantaged and/or have visible or non-visible disability. Further details on these requirements are available in the candidate pack linked here: https://tinyurl.com/DMUInternship
  3. Right to work in the UK and meet the Civil Service Nationality Rules. Further details are available in https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nationality-rules
