Team

In the Finance Transformation (FT) team we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance function and generate real insights to help deliver value to the business. We are a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, working closely with controls and technology focussed professionals to deliver sustainable, transformative solutions for our clients.

Our FT practice is a priority area for significant and strategic growth. The team works with leading corporate clients, focusing on understanding the core issues and opportunities to deliver value-adding change across their Finance functions. The key drivers of change for our clients are: changing regulation, technology implementations, and a desire to progress along the maturity curve.

Roles & Responsibilities

A client facing Director role to support the growth of our GBS practice.

You will be focussed on supporting our GBS team to build a market leading offering for our clients. We focus on three propositions within GBS: (1) Greenfield GBS strategy and execution, (2) next generation GBS support and (3) BPO advisory support.

Successful candidates should have prior experience in a leading consulting practice, as well as in-depth knowledge of one but ideally two-three of the GBS proposition areas.Your responsibilities as a director will include:

Engagement delivery

Leading cross-functional programmes and projects of a large size and complexity, including planning, managing and executing the delivery of engagements, overseeing the writing of client reports and the review and quality assurance of work products

Risk management

Identifying and managing risks, taking accountability for managing engagement assurance, engagement commercials, and ensuring the Firm’s risk management frameworks are implemented appropriately and effectively

People development

  • Leading large teams, identifying team member development needs and accelerating development with a particular emphasis on managing and mentoring engagement team members, coaching and skills transfer
  • Taking on performance management responsibilities, contributing to annual talent reviews and supporting career progression
  • Acting as a mentor to colleagues within the team and in the wider firm, taking responsibility for cultural improvement and living the KPMG values

Business Development

  • Leading the establishment and development of relationships both internally and with clients, as well as leading business development activity (including for future work)
  • Originating opportunities for the firm through relationships, and developing, contributing to and presenting proposals.  Expanding existing engagements to address client challenges or business areas beyond the initial scope
  • Developing market leading materials, leading KPMG’s presence at events, and creating publications for our website on areas of specific expertise

Practice Development

  • Leading the design and creation of KPMG specific GBS propositions, assets and intellectual property
  • Supporting partners with internal operational responsibilities for the team such as revenue planning, resourcing, recruitment, and wider team development

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Successful candidates must:

  • Have previous consulting experience in the finance transformation or internal audit / internal controls practice of a leading professional services firm
  • Be an excellent people manager who can lead large teams and develop/coach others, including peers
  • Have a proven ability to and track record of winning and leading end-to-end multi-functional transformation programmes rooted in finance including a focus on internal financial controls, and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve transformation and business outcomes
  • Have experience managing teams to deliver to deadlines and required quality standards including experience developing, coaching and mentoring team members
  • Be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the finance operating model including systems, data, processes, but with a specific knowledge and experience in controls and governance

Successful candidates should:

  • Hold an accountancy qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Have an ability to articulate trends in finance and the challenges facing finance functions including those in relation to controls and the recent corporate governance reform government white paper
  • Own relationships with a diverse stakeholder group, including C-suite level executives and board members of large, global, listed entities
