Data Scientist
£40,000 to £45,000 plus excellent benefits, including up to 10% employer pension contribution and health & wellbeing rewards through the YuLife app (Work Level 6A)
Manchester City Centre – hybrid working between home and the office
We’re looking for a data scientist to develop data science techniques that help colleagues make quicker, more intelligent business decisions at scale. Data sits right at the heart of Co-op, and the wide range of services that we offer provides us with lots of information about our business, members, and customers.
In this role, you’ll use lots of different types of data in complex, long-term projects - supported by other members of the Data Science team. We’ll look to you to apply advanced techniques to develop valuable products that our leaders can use to make a real difference to the Co-op and our members.
What you’ll do
- Develop sustainable data products that drive value to the business, using cutting edge Databricks and Azure Cloud Technology
- source, prepare, and analyse large tables of data
- Ese a range of statistical and machine learning techniques like regression, clustering, decision trees, and forecasting
- Translate complex business logic and strategic decision-making into code
- Drive innovation and explore ways in which we can better utilise Co-op data
- Influence a variety of internal partners, promoting and demonstrating the value of data
- Build relationships and work closely and collaboratively with the wider data teams
This role would suit people who have
- Proven analytical skills with data science or modelling experience
- Experience writing and developing code (using SQL, Python, R or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills, able to challenge and influence a variety of people across the business
- Strong numerical skills
- The ability to work autonomously and manage your own workload
- The ability to build meaningful relationships with teams across the business; you’ll engage frequently with key partners for requirement gathering, presenting and feedback
