Please be aware Co-op does not offer visa sponsorship for this opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Application Engineer to join our Collaboration & Automation team in Manchester. We’ll look to you to support our cloud collaboration platforms (e.g. Microsoft 365) and make sure the associated tools are deployed, configured, and managed effectively.

As a Senior Application Engineer at Co-op you’ll lead and support colleagues across our wider Digital Technology & Data (DT&D) team; using your expertise in collaboration services to increase efficiency, optimise the use of collaboration tools, and resolve any technical issues. In this role you’ll work in a hybrid way – splitting your time between home and the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

What you’ll do

  • Provide expert guidance and technical support for the deployment, configuration, and management of cloud services
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and maintenance of Microsoft 365 environments (e.g. Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange Online) and other cloud collaboration services
  • Lead the resolution of complex technical issues related to Microsoft 365 services
  • Work closely with colleagues across DT&D to understand their collaboration needs
  • Identify and explore continuous improvement opportunities; closely monitoring service health, usage, and compliance
  • Create technical documents/solutions to help colleagues adopt changes to collaboration services
  • Work closely with technology suppliers to drive service improvements/initiatives
  • Contribute to the technical delivery of projects; planning, testing, and rolling-out solutions that meet our service delivery and security standards
  • Provide guidance and mentoring for our engineers - supporting them in their technical and service development
  • Cover for our Lead Technical Service Owner during periods of annual leave

This role would suit people who have

  • Significant experience in an IT Support or System Administration role
  • Significant experience in the delivery and implementation of collaboration services (e.g. Microsoft 365)
  • Strong technical expertise in designing, implementing and managing Microsoft 365 solutions
  • A basic understanding of networking, security, and cloud computing principles
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate technical language to a non-technical audience

We know that some candidates are less likely to apply for a role if they don’t meet all the criteria in the job description. At Co-op, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive working environment, so if you'd like to apply for this role but your experience doesn't quite meet every point, we'd still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for the job or other roles we have available.

Why Co-op?

As a Co-op colleague, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services). You’ll also get:

  • Private healthcare
  • An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • Coaching and training to support your career development
  • Wagestream – a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • YuLife – an app that rewards you for exercising with discounts and vouchers for your favourite brands

We'll ask whether you’d like to be considered under the Disability Confident scheme when you apply.

If we invite you to take part in the recruitment process for any of our jobs, we’ll ask you if you need any reasonable adjustments to enable you to participate.
