12-month secondment/FTC
Manchester city centre (hybrid working)

Please be aware Co-op does not offer VISA sponsorship for this role

We’re looking for a UX/UI Designer to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract to help provide clear, intuitive, and accessible insights that our senior leaders can use to manage risks and assess how they relate to our Co-op strategy and control environment. In this role you’ll work in a hybrid way – splitting your time between home and the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

As a UX/UI Designer in our Risk team, you’ll directly support efficient and effective decision-making by presenting key insights in a way that’s intuitive. We’ll also look to you to interpret the needs and preferences of colleagues when they’re accessing data used to mitigate risks across the business. You’ll also be responsible for adhering to processes and procedures in place that help us use data in a safe and compliant way; making sure that the usability and accessibility needs of our colleagues are considered throughout.

What you’ll do

  • Work with various types of data to support an effective, compelling user experience
  • Support the data risk and control framework to build confidence in our control environment
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with senior colleagues to understand their needs and preferences when taking decisions
  • Collaborate with our Data Protection and Information Security teams to explore the broader data risk approach at Co-op
  • Develop interfaces that provide risk reports at our fingertips and carry-out assurance reviews; making sure that data risks are reviewed, up to date, and resolved effectively

This role would suit people who have

  • Creative talent, with experience in a Data Analyst or UX/UI Designer role
  • Experience using Python or R
  • A solid understanding of UX/UI and experience with front-end web design, including Microsoft Power Apps (or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate technical language for non-technical audiences

Why Co-op?

If you’ve got the skills and experience we’re looking for, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services). You’ll also get:

  • An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • Coaching and training to support your career development
  • Wagestream – a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • YuLife – an app that rewards you for exercising with discounts and vouchers for your favourite brands

Building an inclusive work environment

Since our Co-op was founded in 1844, we’ve had a clear social purpose, and everything we do as a business helps to build a fairer world for our members, customers, colleagues, and communities.

We’re actively building diverse teams and we welcome applications from everyone. If you have a disability, we can make reasonable adjustments to our recruitment process according to your needs. We'll ask whether you’d like to be considered under the Disability Confident scheme when you apply.
