Tom Scott

Tom is the Chief Technology Officer of N:SYM, where he is focussed on bringing neurosymbolic AI systems that can reason, explain their decisions, and earn trust in the most demanding real-world environments.
After 14 years in the British Army, Tom retrained as a data scientist, bringing together operational experience with deep technical understanding. During his service, he established the Expeditionary Robotics Centre of Expertise and contributed to the development of robotics and autonomous systems policy, strategy and experimentation.
Tom is also a PhD researcher in neurosymbolic AI for autonomous systems, focused on trustworthy, interpretable autonomy. At N:SYM, he is applying that work to create UK-developed AI that moves beyond pattern recognition alone: AI built around reasoning, explainability and operational reality. He is driven by getting genuinely trustworthy AI into the hands of the people who need it, and help establish the UK as a leader in the next generation of intelligent systems.
