Unlock a Career in Coding: Free Web Development Course Returns to Stockport

MadLab has announced the launch of its next FREE coding and web development programme, Shift Click, beginning 21st January 2026. This four-week course is open to Stockport residents aged 18–30 with little or no previous coding experience.

Designed to take learners from complete beginners to confident creators, the blended learning programme covers the essentials of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and GitHub. By the end of the course, participants will have built interactive websites and developed a skills portfolio ready to showcase to future employers.

Now entering its sixth year, Shift Click has helped hundreds of young adults take their first steps into the tech and creative industries. Previous learners have gone on to roles at Auto Trader, Co-op Digital, Waters, the BBC, Factory International, FutureEverything, TalkTalk, Accenture, and many more.

The ‘not a bootcamp’ course will take place at Staircase House, Stockport Museum, with twice-weekly in-person sessions supported by six hours of self-paced online learning. Alongside technical skills, students will receive careers guidance, insight into the digital sector, and tailored support in building a strong portfolio.

Participants will also receive a Certificate of Completion and a Training Reference, helping boost their CV and future opportunities.

Applications are now open — and spaces are limited.
