The inaugural Ecommerce Leaders Dinner – shaping the future of digital retail

On 22 October, Manchester Digital will host our first-ever Ecommerce Leaders Dinner, bringing together senior client-side leaders from across the region for an evening of connection, conversation and insight.

Set in the private dining room at Tast Catala on King Street, this invite-only dinner will provide a relaxed setting for ecommerce directors and heads of digital to step away from the day-to-day and explore some of the sector’s most pressing questions.

We’re delighted to welcome Phil Knight, Chief Digital Experience Officer at Haier Europe, as our guest speaker. Phil brings a wealth of experience, having scaled Shark Ninja’s online business to $1bn globally and now leading digital and consumer experience strategy across a €2bn organisation. His talk, “The future of the digital shopper: changing habits = changing business”, will set the tone for an evening focused on the changing landscape of consumer behaviour, technology and commerce.

Katie Gallagher, OBE and MD of Manchester Digital, commented on the importance of this event to the regional economy and digital ecosystem: ‘’Ecommerce is a vital yet often under-supported part of Greater Manchester’s digital economy – a sector that already employs thousands and generates significant growth. The Leaders Dinner is not just about creating space for senior professionals to connect, reflect and learn from one another, but about signalling a new chapter of support. Alongside our forthcoming ecommerce conference, this forms part of a suite of interventions Manchester Digital will deliver to serve and strengthen this economically important, job-creating sub-sector.’’

Sarah Cox, Vice President of Consulting Services at CGI, commented: "Done well, ecommerce is inclusive: accessible design, flexible payments, transparent delivery and returns. At CGI, we help clients turn that into lower friction and higher conversion; customers get choice without compromise. That’s the progress Manchester Digital champions—and why I’m passionate about it."

The dinner is designed purely for idea-sharing and conversation - no sales agenda, just a chance for leaders to connect, compare challenges and spark new thinking.

We’re grateful to our partners CGI and PushON for supporting this new initiative, which we hope will become a regular fixture for senior ecommerce professionals across Greater Manchester.
