In some cases, a brand’s B2B clients could even operate within different industries (depending on the services that your brand offers).

Instead of focusing on filling in the gaps that you don’t know, we recommend that you begin with what you do know. Take stock of what you do know the clients that you have. Are there any similarities between them?

Then, consider some of the features that your ideal client will have. 

Once you know who your ideal client is, you can begin to understand where you can advertise your brand to catch their attention. 


Ask where your target audience are

Understanding who your target audience are is important, but there is more that B2B brands looking to make the most of their digital ads should consider, such as where your target audience are - either online or in real life.

For example, if your ideal clients are close to one another (geographically) then tailoring your ads to reach said regions is also a great way to reach your target audience where they are. 

Additionally, taking stock of which social channels are already working for your brand is a good place to start, but for those who cannot see this information, or in cases where no one social channel stands out as being the most successful for the brand, then trying to advertise on some of the most influential channels for B2B could yield great results. 

According to recent studies, the best social channels for B2B businesses are:

·        YouTube

·        Facebook

(Please note, this is just for the majority of B2B businesses. Other channels may still yield great results for your brand.)

 

 Finetune your campaigns over time

To give your brand the best chance of meeting and attracting your target audience, it is vital that you plan your campaigns out ahead of time. This includes doing plenty of research so that you know exactly where to find your target audience and have a good idea of how to introduce yourself to them and leave them wanting more. 

These initial research and planning stages are crucial, but being flexible enough so that you can observe, analyse and finetune your campaigns over time is also an integral part of any B2B brand’s digital advertising strategy. 

After all, the beauty of digital advertising is that there are plenty of opportunities to thoroughly analyse your campaigns, their successes and their shortcomings.
