Grab a coffee and join AND Digital for Elevenses!

For over 20 years, JavaScript, Java and C have topped the list of most popular programming languages, however, there are other alternatives available to us, and it’s worth considering whether we should be using them in some ecosystems.

In the fourth of a five-part series, we’ll be looking at Go- a relatively new type-safe language.

It was created by three developers at Google, who wanted to create one language that combined the best attributes of the different languages they were using at the time. They set out to create “one language to rule them all” - and so Go was born.

In this session, we’ll cover:

  • A brief history of Go

  • What is Go and why it exists

  • What is it good for?

  • What is Go not good for?

  • A live demo

About David

David is Senior Software Engineer AND First Time Father at AND Digital. David started coding at college using VB6 when he was 16. After falling in love with all things programming related, he graduated from the University of Bradford with a BSc in Cybernetics and Virtual Worlds. He has worked in the software development industry for 12 years, working on small-scale projects, to global, multi-lingual enterprise SaaS applications.

He has a keen interest in all programming languages and is always looking at different languages, some old (like COBOL) or new (like Go), and is keen to keep building onto the wide list of technologies he is able to use during high quality delivery of client work.

About AND Elevenses

In our collective new normal of working from home, we’ve noticed ourselves just how easy it is to lose track of time and find yourself working without sufficient breaks. Without these, we all know how fast productivity, focus and wellbeing can dwindle.

So, to help break up your day, we’ve launched AND Elevenses: snappy, 45-minute live webinar sessions where you can learn new skills, network with others and take some time out from your working day.

If you've missed an event, don't worry. You can watch recordings here from each Elevenses session we run.
