We are delighted to invite partners to the Local Government Innovation Hackathon, taking place in Birmingham on 26–27 November 2025. This event, hosted by the Government Digital Service, Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government, and the Local Government Association, is designed to foster collaboration across local government, central government, academia, and the tech sector.
Over two days, participants will work in cross-disciplinary teams to develop digital solutions addressing homelessness and rough sleeping. The hackathon will feature challenge statements, expert speakers, and opportunities to build working prototypes for local councils.
Who should attend?

- Service delivery professionals in homelessness and temporary accommodation
- Data scientists, analysts, developers, engineers, UX/UI designers
- Policy makers and digital innovators
We especially encourage applications from local government practitioners, but welcome anyone with expertise, creativity, and enthusiasm for designing tools to support vulnerable communities.
