“Equity crowdfunding has the potential to be a complementary source of risk capital to the traditional providers in the market, offering finance to many businesses currently struggling to source investment”.

NESTA The Venture Crowd, 2012

Crowdfunding is a means of financing projects or business ventures with small contributions from large numbers of people. Not only does the model provide finance but also access to a large number of people who can test and market an idea.

Equity crowdfunding shares many of the features of crowdfunding for donations model, one significant difference is the combination of both financial and non–financial motives for investing.

This seminar aims to introduce the concept of crowdfunding for business and tackle some of the issues which arise from the model - how to encourage investment and ensure compliance and good business governance.

The seminar is for entrepreneurs, startups, small business and creative enterprises.

The seminar is organised by CLB Coopers Chartered Accountants and business advisors, Semple Fraser commercial law firm and CrowdfundUK advisor on crowdfunding.
