Manchester Creative Studio is a new industry led studio school opening in September 2014 which prepares young people aged 14-19 for a career in the creative and digital sector.
It seeks to address the growing gap between the skills and knowledge that young people require to succeed in the industry, and those that the current education system provides.
Kindly hosted by one of our partners Hyper Island, this event is an opportunity for members of the Creative and Digital sector to come and meet the team to find out more about our plans and how you can get involved.
We'll have some liquid refreshments (because we know how hard you all work!) and a friendly informal atmosphere to chat about how we can work together to help ensure a future talent pipeline for this crucial Manchester industry.
About Manchester Creative Studio
Funded by the Department for Education and with an open admissions policy, Studio Schools are designed for 14-19 year olds of all abilities. They are small schools for 300 students; and with year-round opening and a 9-5 working day, they feel more like a workplace than a school.
Students at Manchester Creative Studio will:
- Gain qualifications in essential academic subjects and vocational modules specially designed for the creative industries
- Follow a personalised curriculum designed to meet their individual needs and aspirations
- Prepare for the workplace through practical application of learning and skills
- Complete bespoke work placements, including paid employment from 16-19, helping to broaden experiences and strengthen expertise
- Develop skills in creativity and entrepreneurship, equipping them to adapt to any business opportunity
Manchester Creative Studio is like no ordinary school. Students will learn from and work alongside leading employers in Manchester’s creative industries, developing strong partnerships with leaders in the sector.
