There will be coding, and application construction, but more importantly Liverpool City Council is open to implementing radical proposals that result.
In October 2012 Liverpool held the first ever Social Care Hack Day in the UK. This is a follow-on event designed to target the needs of care providers. Care providers do the hard work that leads to older and disabled people having lives that are dignified and happy. This event is all about technologists spending the day helping care providers do this vital work by getting busy and coding.
This will not be a talking shop. Instead, technologists will listen to ideas created on the day and create practical applications that can get things done. Ideas can also be suggested at http://wp.me/p3dzyJ-2, This will give people time to start thinking about how they could be made a reality in the day we have available.
At the end of this day a senior Liverpool City Council official, a representative of a leading Liverpool technology company and a care provider will judge the entries and declare an overall winner.
There is no guarantee of further funding, but this is multi-billion pound market that is facing disruption and crisis. It is also the support network that looks after our most vulnerable people. Excellent solutions stand a good chance of being taken up.
