Greetings from Ofcom’s Making Sense of Media team!
Ofcom is the UK’s communications regulator with a mission to make communications work for everyone. We have a statutory duty to promote media literacy and we deliver this through our Making Sense of Media (MSOM) programme of work. Our new approach to media literacy outlining our priority areas of work, alongside our ongoing research.
In order to make communications work for everyone, we will be adopting a more local, community-based approach to some of our media literacy work. We are very pleased to announce that this programme of activity includes a series of in-person events- including this one in Manchester.
When and where?
Manchester: Wednesday 15 June, 10:00-12:30
Manchester Art Gallery, The Lecture Room, Mosley St, Manchester M2 3JL
Please note this is an in-person event only.
Please note: registration will open 15 mins in advance to ensure a prompt start to the event.
What to expect?
A detailed agenda will be shared with registered attendees closer to the event date. We will present Ofcom’s overall approach to media literacy, as well as a deep dive into a particular priority area of our work. There will be time for small-group discussions to complement the Q&A sessions.
The event will be a great opportunity to make new connections and deepen relationships with existing MSOM Network members. If you are not a member of our MSOM Network, please join us by completing this form.
We would be delighted if you can join us. If you have questions or you would like to get in touch with a team member, you can email us at makingsenseofmedia@ofcom.org.uk.
Kind regards,
Making Sense of Media Team
