Principal iOS Developer

We’re looking for a Principal iOS Developer to join us. Our Principals play a vital role in the day to day running of the squad and enjoy sharing their experiences and skills to help develop those around them. They’re on hand to solve difficult technical problems whilst considering user experience, performance, quality and security. They devise elegant and creative solutions to challenging problems and highlight issues with existing architecture and code and tidying it up. The wider community of technical leads and developers work together to promote great software design and quality.

The team is made up of iOS and Android developers, and with over 2 million unique apps visitors every month they continually strive to improve the customer journey through discovery using A/B testing and building prototypes. The team also work on improving the core Auto Trader services with native capabilities.

We’re looking for solid Swift & Objective-C experience. You’ll have created and supported iOS apps through your knowledge of object-oriented and asynchronous programming techniques. Understanding of the common mobile application design patterns and XCTest and unit testing will be a welcome addition to the squad. In addition to the above, we’re looking for someone with knowledge on consuming RESTful services (XML/JSON) in iOS apps.

Our Principal Developers play a key role in the development of our apprentices, graduates and professional developers so you’ll have experience coaching and mentoring people at different stages of their career.

We’re looking for technical leaders with an excellent understanding and working knowledge of IOS Development. We love working in an Agile environment so it’s important that you’re flexible in your approach to collaborative software delivery. We’d also like to hear about your knowledge of limitations, quirks and best practices with mobile devices, bug management and source control systems. Ideally, you’ll be familiar with UI automation testing for iOS apps and knowledge of other client technologies.

We offer a salary between £50,000 - £70,000 and an excellent flexible benefits package including 25 days’ holiday, pension and healthcare. We believe in providing more than just salary and benefits.
