Code First Girls Opportunities

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is thrilled to partner with Code First Girls (CFG) for the third time to offer training and IPO placement under the Pathways to STEM GFiE scheme.

Successful candidates will be part of the Digital, Data, and Technology (DDaT) Directorate at the IPO, the UK's hub of innovation and the official government body responsible for intellectual property (IP) rights, including patents, designs, trademarks, and copyright.

Our people are the heart of the IPO. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive, open culture where diversity is celebrated, and differences are valued. Our culture is built on fairness and opportunity for all. We believe everyone has the potential to make a difference and are committed to supporting equality in the tech sector by removing barriers women face in entering STEM careers.

What does this opportunity consist of?

  • You’ll start by completing a 16-week Nanodegree with CFG in full-stack or software engineering.
  • You will then embark on an exciting 2-year placement with IPO (with the possibility of permanency) to enhance and develop your skills.

Who should apply?

We are seeking a diverse mix of candidates, from recent graduates to those looking to change careers, regardless of their educational background.

The 4 successful applicants will receive a 2-year fixed-term appointment at the IPO, with the potential for permanency based on business needs and performance.

Successful candidates will commence the CFG Nanodegree in August 2025, and upon completion, will begin their IPO appointment in February 2026.
