Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within CIO's Software Development Team to support the organisation's adoption and embedding of Office 365 applications allowing DIO to ensure information is accessible, shareable and easily exploitable. This will help to preserve our corporate memory, embed a culture of learning from experience and make more informed, data-based decisions. Within this role you will manage the team creating and developing business solutions using O365 applications (apps) within the Power Platform, such as Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI. This is a capability which is maturing quickly within CIO and provides the candidate the scope to develop their knowledge and understanding.
The post is within the Delivery and Operations function and will be responsible for the management of the Software Development team in the design and development of dashboards and applications using the Microsoft suite of apps (Power Apps, Power Automate)
- Primary responsibility will be to manage the development of low code Power App applications, with an understanding of PowerApps formulas and development methods
- Responsibility for creating business processes, workflows and custom connectors using Microsoft Flow/Power Automate
- Creating and managing database table, relationships and structures within the Microsoft Dataverse Environments
- Work within project team to assist in designing end-to-end solutions that improve collaboration, productivity, and knowledge sharing
- Identify areas and processes where Microsoft 365 can be better leveraged and facilitate process improvement
- Responsibility for working with stakeholders to define requirements and manage expectations
- Responsible for documenting data structures for ingestion into corporate Data Warehouse
- Managing team of Software Developers to ensure delivery of both new solutions and changes to existing
- Managing team to resolve user queries and bugs for existing solutions
- Assure technical specification documents in line with DIO standards and principles
- Quality assure solution designs ensuring Government Design Standards (GDS) standards are followed
- Work with team to suggest continuous improvements to DIO’s use of Microsoft platform

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period
This post is eligible for a Digital Skills Allowance, therefore the maximum salary for this role has the potential of up to £58,660 per annum. Eligibility for this allowance will be assessed at interview against the 4 core technical skills only and reviewed annually in line with departmental policy
