First, a bit about Code

We're a design and innovation agency part of EssenceMediacom North that creates breakthrough experiences for an eclectic mix of clients – from big organisations like the BBC, fast-moving start-ups like LightSpeed Broadband, and local heroes like Manchester Pride.

We’re officially recognised as a Great Place to Work. 98% of people here say that the working environment is welcoming, friendly and fun, and 98% agree that people are treated fairly regardless of race, age, or sexual orientation.

Code was founded in 1999. Since then, we’ve helped shape some of the UK’s most-visited websites and become famous for our human-centred thinking, digital design excellence, and modern engineering practices. We even launched a global number-1 app, The Higher Lower Game.

Code is full of talented, passionate folk who love collaborating and helping each other, and our client partners trust us to do world-class work. We are an equal opportunities employer committed to promoting inclusivity and diversity at Code. We are actively encouraging applications from black and ethnic minority groups.

Our Culture Manifesto

We’re a brilliant bunch - We’re friendly, passionate people – thinkers and doers who care deeply about their craft and strive for brilliance every day.

We’re a place to grow - Code is a place to learn, grow, and continually improve. It’s a place to kickstart your digital career, make lifelong friends, and shape your own future.

We're human-centred - We thrive individually, and do our best work together, in an atmosphere of care and compassion. Whether we’re in the office or working remotely, we all look out for each other, and our dedicated mental health allies are always there if you need someone to talk to.

We're enriched by diversity - Diversity is something we applaud; we embrace every shade of skin, every religion, and every ethnicity. We respect every gender, and every sexuality. We welcome people with disabilities and value the different perspectives they can bring. And we always aim to mix experience with youth.

We're all ourselves - We encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work – we love and accept people for who they are, and enjoy each other’s oddities.

We communicate openly -Our culture thrives on honest reflection, feedback and open conversations, and we’ve worked hard to make sure these things continue during remote and hybrid work. At Code, everyone has the chance to be heard, so we can move forward as a group.

We mix it up - Our cross-discipline teams have collaboration in their DNA; we aim to bring amazing people from diverse backgrounds together to create brilliant products.

We trust people - We give people the freedom to take risks and make mistakes, the autonomy to make decisions, and the opportunity to make an impact.

We value relationships - We take the time to get to know each other and our clients so we can communicate more effectively, align around a shared vision, and push each other to do our best work.

We're more than just a place to work - From bouldering and board games to beers and a boogie, there’s more to life at Code than just the work – fun, friendship, and a fair amount of love are all part of the package, and everyone who’s ever worked at Code is part of the family for good.
