Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Product Manager in our Digital and Technology Group (DTG).

This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are currently operating a hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 40% of contracted hours working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. This may rise to 60% during the year.  Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The Digital and Technology Group (DTG) lies at the heart of the Agency and is responsible for delivering an optimised IT infrastructure and maximising the secure use of data to enable our scientists, inspectors, and the rest of the organisation to deliver world class services which can improve outcomes for patients and the general public. The Group was essential in the race to approve COVID-19 vaccines in 2020 and in supporting the UK to set up its own medicines and devices approvals systems following our exit from the EU. The work we do matters!

The Digital & Service Design group provides a number of services through its practice-based model including user-research, service design, business analysis, change management and product management. D&SDG owns the customer experience for the division and is building its in-house capabilities around Digital Product Management and User Centred Design.

Job description

What’s the role?

As a Senior Product Manager, you will bring your experience of Product Management in agile environments and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working across boundaries, delegating where appropriate and adding value through strategic thinking.

You will bring a product focus whilst contributing to a high performing customer-focused team and quickly build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels across organisations.

You will be responsible for setting visions and agreeing roadmaps for products, understanding and prioritising requirements, providing quality assurance across user stories, responding to queries, monitoring progress, managing backlogs and seeing the vision being realised.

You will manage stakeholders, including vendors, to come together to deliver the right product for users and be a single point of contact and a trusted advisor to a number of business areas, developing an in-depth knowledge and insight into business areas and IT requirements to assess, analyse and prioritise strategic opportunities

You will be required to influence decision-making and engage with technical, content, design and delivery decisions. You will exploit opportunities, identify dependencies, manage risks and use your experience to avoid duplication and common issues and work with business areas to ensure that benefits are defined.

Person specification

The successful candidate will have significant experience of delivering value to customers in an agile environment, managing in a fast-paced paced environment with a high level of demand and expectation, competing priorities and alignment to strategic priorities.

You should have a track record of quickly building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels across organisations, and of ensuring that everyone clearly understands and owns their roles, responsibilities and business priorities.

You will be experienced in working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary digital team (including vendors), working across boundaries and delegating where appropriate, coming together to deliver the right service based on what users need and adding value through strategic thinking.

You will have a strong track record of bringing a product and service focus whilst contributing to a high-performing user-centred team.

Benefits

Alongside your salary of £56,353, Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency contributes £15,215 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Find out what benefits a Civil Service Pension provides.

  • Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days and pro-rata for part-time staff. PLUS 8 bank holidays

  • Hours of Work: 37 hours (net) per week for full time staff in all geographical locations, including London and pro rata for part-time staff
