Revolution Growth -

Full-time (Permanent)
£30-£40k + uncapped new business commission (OTE ~£70k)

Deadline

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for building Revolution’s net-new client portfolio and converting new opportunities into valuable, long-term client relationships.

This is a hands-on agency new-business role for an experienced seller who can create opportunities rather than simply wait for them. You will own targeted outbound prospecting and nurture while also making sure inbound, referral and partner-led opportunities are handled quickly, professionally and with strong commercial intent.

You will sell across two complementary parts of Revolution’s proposition. The first is digital transformation: bespoke web platform builds, web systems development, API integrations and connected digital solutions. The second is performance marketing and growth: strategy, demand generation, performance campaigns and the execution required to create measurable commercial growth.

Our priority markets include Tech and SaaS, with a particular focus on cloud, alongside insurance, membership organisations and chartered or professional bodies, and other regulated industries. You will develop the knowledge, language and commercial insight required to engage senior buyers credibly within those sectors.

You will own the new-business journey from target-account selection and first engagement through discovery, qualification, solution shaping, proposal, pitch, commercial negotiation and close. This is not an appointment-setting role: you will be expected to understand client problems, create momentum through the sales cycle and convert opportunities into signed business.

You will work closely with Revolution’s CEO, Growth Marketing Team Leader, Client Success & Growth Director and digital transformation specialists to shape the right solution for each opportunity. Once a client is won, you will ensure the handover into strategy, delivery and client success is clear, accurate and commercially sound.

What You’ll Do

Outbound Pipeline Generation & Prospecting

  • Own the creation of a healthy, qualified new-business pipeline rather than relying on inbound demand to deliver target.

  • Build and maintain clearly defined ICPs, target-account lists and prospecting priorities across Revolution’s chosen sectors.

  • Run disciplined outbound activity across phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals, networking, events and other relevant channels.

  • Develop personalised outreach and nurture approaches that create a reason for senior prospects to engage rather than relying on generic volume-based prospecting.

  • Research target organisations, buying triggers, current challenges and relevant stakeholders so outreach is informed, timely and commercially credible.

  • Multi-thread into accounts by building relationships with the right combination of commercial, marketing, digital, technology and executive decision makers.

Digital Transformation Solution Sales

  • Lead consultative sales conversations for Revolution’s digital transformation proposition, including bespoke web platforms, web systems, API integrations and connected digital experiences.

  • Diagnose the underlying commercial, operational or customer-experience problem before moving into solution mode.

  • Work with Revolution’s technical and digital specialists to validate requirements, shape scope, assess feasibility and develop solutions that are both valuable to the client and deliverable by the team.

  • Present technical solutions in a way that is clear and persuasive to non-technical decision makers while retaining enough substance to satisfy technical evaluators.

  • Build confidence that Revolution can operate as a commercially minded transformation partner, not simply a supplier of websites or development hours.

Growth Marketing & Performance Sales

  • Sell Revolution’s growth strategy and performance marketing capability to organisations that need measurable improvement in demand, pipeline, customer acquisition and revenue growth.

  • Lead discovery around commercial growth objectives, target audiences, sales and marketing challenges, current performance, internal capability and the outcomes the prospect needs to achieve.

  • Work closely with the Growth Marketing Team Leader and wider Growth Team to shape propositions that connect strategy, channel execution, measurement and commercial outcomes.

  • Help prospects move from broad requests for marketing activity to clearer definitions of the growth problem, the required outcome and the most appropriate programme of work.

  • Develop opportunities for retained, campaign-based and strategic growth engagements based on the prospect’s maturity, objectives, urgency and commercial potential.

Inbound Opportunity Management, Discovery & Qualification

  • Take ownership of inbound enquiries, referrals and partner-generated opportunities and respond with the pace expected from a high-growth agency.

  • Qualify opportunities properly rather than treating every enquiry as a sales opportunity, establishing fit, need, urgency, stakeholder access, decision process, investment appetite and likely commercial value.

  • Identify whether an opportunity is best suited to digital transformation, growth marketing or a combination of both, and bring the right internal expertise into the process at the right time.

  • Build relationships with multiple stakeholders where necessary and understand who influences, evaluates, approves and ultimately signs off the engagement.

  • Disqualify poor-fit opportunities early when they fall outside Revolution’s capability, commercial model or target profile, protecting internal time and focus.

  • Convert strong inbound demand efficiently while maintaining the same standard of discovery, qualification and commercial discipline applied to outbound opportunities.

Proposals, Commercials & Closing

  • Own the progression of qualified opportunities through solution development, proposal, pitch, negotiation and close.

  • Coordinate internal specialists to produce compelling, tailored proposals that clearly connect the proposed work to the prospect’s objectives and decision criteria.

  • Build persuasive commercial narratives and business cases that make the value of acting with Revolution easy for senior stakeholders to understand.

  • Maintain control of decision timelines, procurement steps, internal approvals, competitive position and all agreed next actions throughout the closing process.

  • Identify and address deal risk early, including weak sponsorship, unclear budgets, delayed decisions, procurement blockers and competitive threats.

Vertical Development, CRM & Forecasting

  • Build strong market knowledge across Tech and SaaS, particularly cloud, as well as insurance, membership organisations, chartered or professional institutions and other regulated sectors.

  • Understand the commercial pressures, buying triggers, terminology and common digital or growth challenges within each priority vertical so outreach and discovery feel relevant rather than generic.

  • Maintain accurate CRM records for every meaningful prospect and opportunity, including stage, value, probability, stakeholders, next action and expected close timing.

  • Provide clear, evidence-based pipeline and forecast reporting to the CEO and wider leadership team, highlighting progress, risk, conversion, coverage and actions required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Client Handover

  • Bring the right specialist into an opportunity when their expertise will strengthen discovery or solution credibility, without losing ownership of the sales process.

  • Ensure delivery teams understand what has been discussed, promised, scoped and commercially agreed before a new client engagement begins.

  • Create a structured handover into the Client Success & Growth Director and relevant delivery owner so the client experiences continuity from sale into onboarding and execution.

  • Share market feedback, prospect objections and recurring sales insight with leadership so Revolution can continue to refine its propositions and positioning.

About You

You’ll likely be a strong fit if you:

  • Have significant business development or new-business sales experience within an agency environment. You understand how agency services are bought, scoped, sold and handed into delivery.

  • Have a strong track record of winning net-new clients and building a client portfolio through proactive outbound activity as well as converting inbound opportunities.

  • Can demonstrate that you have personally created pipeline, progressed complex opportunities and closed business rather than operating only as a lead generator or appointment setter.

  • Are comfortable selling consultatively to senior and executive stakeholders and can earn credibility quickly with commercial, marketing and technical buyers.

  • Have a good working understanding of both digital transformation and growth marketing, even if your deepest experience sits more strongly in one of the two disciplines.

  • Can understand a client problem, ask intelligent questions and shape a commercially relevant solution rather than defaulting to a standard service list or generic pitch deck.

  • Are naturally proactive and comfortable initiating conversations with people who are not already expecting to hear from you.

  • Are resilient, persistent and disciplined without becoming transactional or overly aggressive in the way you sell.

  • Have strong proposal, presentation, negotiation and closing skills, with the judgement to know how to move a deal forward without weakening the commercial position.

It would be helpful if you also have:

  • Experience selling to B2B technology or SaaS organisations, particularly businesses operating in the cloud ecosystem.

  • Experience selling into insurance, financial services, membership organisations, chartered or professional bodies, or other regulated industries.

  • Experience selling retained growth marketing, demand generation, performance marketing, ABM or integrated pipeline-generation programmes.

  • Experience using platforms such as HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator or Apollo, and developing vertical-specific outbound or account-based prospecting approaches.
