Partner with University of Salford to bring new skills and perspectives into your organisation
The University of Salford have recently released their updated Strategy 2025-2030 with the key theme being “Innovating to Enrich Lives”.
As part of this commitment the Careers and Enterprise Team are keen to build on this work and develop stronger partnerships and collaborations with organisations to advance social justice and break down the barriers to career opportunities for all.
At the University of Salford we currently have over 26,000 students:
- 50% are first in family to attend university
- 49% identify as minoritised ethnic
Businesses looking for talent can partner with the University through a number of channels to bring new skills and perspectives into their organisations, supporting students on their employability journey.
Ways to engage include:
Careers Fairs – promote placement and graduate roles in-person, helping to amplify your brand and talk to potential candidates face-to-face.
9 - 12 month placements – the majority of programmes encourage students to undertake a year in industry to apply knowledge in the workplace, and build critical professional skills.
Internships – shorter placements can be combined into many programmes or can be an alternative option to a dissertation. These can vary between 1 week to 3 months in length, at different points in the academic year.
Industry Insights – provide a session to students on a specific topic, bridging the gap between academia and industry. This could be from sharing how you as a business use machine learning and data mining to extract insights from data; to using GIS within fieldwork for ecological surveys; to employment Law; and everything inbetween. Sharing how students can apply their learning to the world of work, providing real-life examples, further enhances their academic studies.
Careers Workshops – support the work the Careers & Enterprise team provide by contributing to careers advice and guidance sessions, whether that be CVs, applications, assessment centres or interview techniques.
Live Projects – many courses integrate the opportunity for students to undertake a project, where a business provides a brief for students to work on as part of a module (e.g. Data Science, Digital Marketing, HR…).
Careers Hub – the front door to the Careers & Enterprise Team, organisations can book space and deliver drop-ins or conduct interviews on-campus.
