My Theory Test by James May is one of these success stories - Splink recognised that despite the potential and soaring popularity of app-based learning, many existing apps for key knowledge-based tests remain creatively dull, technically basic and poorly designed. With that in mind, Splink set out to deliver a new generation of apps with mass appeal, that bring the same levels of world-class talent, technology and tone that people expect from the best of other mass-market media. Working with James May and the DVSA, the first product is an app to help the nation’s future drivers to pass their driving theory test.
As a brand new company with a great idea, the team at Splink Industries turned to AND to provide the expert technical and product expertise they would need to turn an exciting concept into a fully-fledged app.
Cassian Harrison and Gus Colquhoun at Splink, will be sharing their journey from ‘Eureka’ moment to launch, discussing the highs, lows, challenges and learnings they faced in creating a successful, greenfield, learned repetition app.
About Cassian Harrison - Splink
Currently senior VP of commissioning and content for global services at BBC Studios, Cassian was previously Channel Editor of BBC4. Before joining the BBC, Cassian spent 15 years in the independent sector. His programmes have won multiple awards including a BAFTA, 3 Emmys and 5 RTS awards, while his creative innovations on series such as Britain from Above set new standards in programme-making.
About Gus Colquhoun - Splink
Gus founded Jacaranda Productions in 1987 with Anita and Gordon Roddick. As Creative Director, he grew it to become one of the UK’s leading production companies (and gave Cassian his first job in the process). He negotiated a management buy-out from the initial investors in 2000 and the sale of the business to a PLC in 2014.

Joël is a service delivery lead at AND. He focuses on establishing and nurturing relationships with clients, maximising AND’s value to accelerate the development of their digital products and internal capabilities.
Over the past five years, Joël has been supporting a variety of companies, ranging from small start-ups to enterprise-scaled organisations. He has also been a delivery manager for large projects in the Telco industry
