A British organisation that mentors entrepreneurs in the Middle East is now turning its attention to Manchester and the North West. The Mowgli Foundation, founded by serial entrepreneur Tony Bury, is keen to recreate its successes on home turf. Tony attended Manchester University and Manchester Business School and has built up several successful businesses. He now uses his resources and expertise to support people across the world to emulate his success.
"It is important to harness entrepreneurial potential and help create businesses that provide the goods and services that we all need as well as much needed employment opportunities, particularly in the current economic climate. In the Middle East we have helped individuals build a food distribution company, a software house and rock climbing business. They all create wealth and help entrepreneurs improve everyone’s standard of living".
Manchester is nothing like Amman or Damascus, but the imperatives are the same. Harnessing the skills and knowledge of business leaders, the Mowgli Foundation pairs these experienced mentors with entrepreneurs who benefit from their support. The whole process is voluntary and is managed by Mowgli. A mentoring relationship is created which can be incredibly rewarding for both parties. Lasting for a year, the main purpose of the relationship is to support the entrepreneur through the early stages of establishing a successful new business or in scaling their existing business.
The programme in Manchester is going to commence from 26th to 29th November when 9 mentees are paired with nine mentors. It is supported by leading leadership development charity, Common Purpose, and Manchester Business School. Mowgli is seeking both suitable business leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs to take part.
