The role
As a Lead Delivery Manager, you’ll provide leadership across multiple delivery teams, helping them plan, organise and deliver products that meet user needs and strategic objectives.
You’ll operate at programme level, shaping how teams work together at scale, managing dependencies, risks and delivery confidence, and supporting both internal teams and third‑party managed services.
This role suits someone experienced in scaled agile delivery, comfortable with complexity, and motivated by high‑impact digital work.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
- Lead and motivate multiple multidisciplinary teams
- Shape delivery as a team‑of‑teams, across internal staff and suppliers
- Ensure teams have the right people, skills and resources
- Align team missions, goals and vision across the programme
- Actively manage risks, issues and dependencies, acting as an escalation point
- Be accountable for delivery plans and confidence in meeting commitments
- Ensure teams plan and track work using recognised agile practices
- Provide clear, timely reporting to senior stakeholders
- Work in close partnership with Lead Product Managers and Lead Developers
- Balance the use of managed services with long‑term knowledge retention
- Assess and improve delivery effectiveness across teams
- Line manage, coach and mentor delivery managers
- Contribute to the wider Delivery Manager community
Who we’re looking for
We’re interested in people who can demonstrate:
- A strong track record delivering complex digital programmes end to end
- Deep understanding of agile and lean delivery, including scaling practices
- Experience leading multi‑site, multi‑disciplinary teams
- Confidence managing senior stakeholders and difficult conversations
- Proven ability to optimise delivery flow by addressing complex risks and dependencies
- Experience in continuous planning across multiple teams and priorities
- A passion for simplifying delivery by challenging unnecessary process
- Experience recruiting, coaching and line‑managing delivery managers
