THE OPPORTUNITY

This role sits within the Offboard Cyber Security Chapter in Manchester. As senior member of this team, you will be a security expert having delivered many cloud systems on a global scale and be well versed in security best practices for doing so.

As a Principal Cyber Security Architect, you will report to the Security Engineering Chapter Lead and play a key role in maintaining the security posture of our organization. This is a senior role within our team and your day to day will be focused mostly on identifying and mitigating threats at the system and supersystem level, actively working to support colleagues across our Engineering, Product and Architecture teams to steer the technical direction of our products.

The Successful candidate will be responsible for setting the future direction of the security of JLR cloud products and will form an essential part of a collaborative, iterative and agile process within a multi-disciplined team helping deliver best in class digital solutions.

WHAT TO EXPECT 

• Close collaboration with our solution architecture team to ensure system and super system level threats are identified and appropriate controls are implemented.
• Using technical expertise to steer the direction of our solutions by providing support and architectural guidance.
• Work as part of our global offboard cyber security chapter to capture and progress best practices and processes, to ensure consistency of security practices.
• Ownership and definition of the detailed security architecture for a variety of cloud and mobile projects deployed globally for JLR, ensuring that all our solutions are secure by design.
• Identification of threats using modern application security techniques, such as threat modelling
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams fostering a security-conscious mindset.
• Support and mentor more junior team members, supporting their technical and career progression.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Extensive experience in cyber security architecture, preferably in a global organization, with a focus on enterprise level architecture.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and hands-on experience in integrating security practices into the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency in threat modelling techniques, risk assessment methodologies, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, OWASP) across many platforms and technologies
• Exposure and understanding of working in a regulated industry.
• A broad technical knowledge of cloud security, with deep technical knowledge and specialisation in more than one area (cryptography, IAM, etc.)
• A proven track record architecting security solutions in the cloud at a global scale
•  Experience using application security threat modelling to identify threats and risks in cloud and mobile based systems.
