Manchester Digital has been tackling the skills gap for a number of years and delivers a range of products, services and events to help tackle it. Programmes such as Digital Futures, Digital Her and our annual skills festival make strong and lasting connections between education and industry as well as having a significant impact on the quality and availability of talent across the region. Demand for our work in this area is growing and we need a passionate, committed person to join our team to enhance and grow this work.
Creating and developing great relationships with our universities, colleges and schools and increasing awareness of the career opportunities within the digital and technology industry.
Working with employers to understand the skills and talent challenges they are facing, gathering this intelligence and using it to deliver and create new and relevant products and services.
Working with our learning and development coach to deliver and grow our software development apprenticeship scheme, making sure we are delivering a cutting edge programme, promoting it to our members and maximising growth opportunities.
Understanding where there are market gaps in training and skills provision and working with relevant stakeholders to address this.
Strategic relationship management.
Resourcing our programmes either by spotting public funding opportunities that closely align with our aims or by raising financial support from the private sector by sponsorship or commercially viable products.
Supporting Manchester Digital’s lobbying and policy work and making sure the views of our members are heard by regional and national government.
Managing our Employer’s Forum and ensuring that best practice is captured and pushed out to companies across the region.
Delivering wider events that support our talent and skills agenda such as a work readiness conference for graduates.
Playing a key role in the development and growth of our digital skills festival.
Developing and implementing Manchester Digital’s T Level further education offer.
Represent Manchester Digital at external forums and meetings.
Oversee the successful management and growth of our existing Digital Futures and Digital Her programmes.
Microsite website management.
This role needs someone with an entrepreneurial attitude and dynamic thinking to help us to address the biggest barrier to growth that is currently facing our members.
Skills and attitude:
You will have some experience of working in or with digital businesses and an understanding of the education landscape.
Ability to connect at multiple levels with employers, educators and other stakeholders.
Ability to write great content and possess excellent communication skills.
A commercial eye, understanding that we are an independent organisation and the products and services we deliver need to keep our members engaged and encourage new ones to join.
Avid consumer of industry news and networks and ability to understand, distill and communicate any changes to policy/law around digital skills that may affect our members.
Be able to take something from a concept through to a fully fledged project.
Have good personal resilience and the ability to understand and navigate the digital skills landscape.
Be a natural delivery person as well as a strategist.
Get stuck in when the team is busy and contribute to things like social media, blogging, the weekly newsletter and wider events/agendas.
