Private Client Lawyer – AI team
Up to £65,000 dependent on experience (Work level 6A and Work level 5)
We’re now working in a hybrid way, with colleagues dividing their time between home and any of our offices in Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol, or Stratford upon Avon.

We’re looking for private client solicitors/fee earners to join our technical probate team within Co-op Legal Services to support with our exciting new AI integration.

At Co-op Legal Services we do things differently, whether that’s continuously innovating our technology or our tailored internal progression framework to support your development. As part of our ongoing technology initiatives, we’ll be implementing a new AI tool to support with our case review process, alongside improving our case management systems. You’ll play a key role in supporting us with developing the use of the machine learning technology, whilst managing a small caseload of probate cases from start to finish.

You don’t need any technological expertise to be successful, so if you have the legal knowledge and passion for AI we need, we can offer you the exciting chance to be at the forefront of revolutionising our business.

What you’ll do

•   work collaboratively with our technology team and third-party providers to develop generative artificial intelligence machine learning opportunities within the department
• use your legal expertise to tailor the AI tool, making sure it’s producing accurate outputs and is fit for purpose
• own a small caseload of around 15 complex probate cases end to end
• use our case management system to make sure information is recorded accurately and engage with clients mainly by the telephone and email
• work collaboratively with expert support from the team to continually develop your legal skills, administrative support will also be provided
• mentor more junior members of the team
• support with the continuous improvement of our case management system

This role would suit people who have

•   qualified as a solicitor or legal executive in private client (CILEX or STEP qualification), or have the equivalent significant experience within private client
• a keen interest in artificial intelligence and continuously improving our offering through innovative technology
• the ability to use your initiative and effectively prioritise and organise your work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
•   a client-focused approach with the ability to build positive relationships in a remote setting

Why Co-op?

Our legal team is the number one market leader in probate. Here you’ll do work that matters. Co-op is an organisation with a purpose beyond profit, and by contributing to our success you’ll help us to realise our vision of co-operating for a fairer world. You’ll also get a package that includes:
• an annual bonus scheme (dependent on personal and business performance)
• a pension with up to 10% employer contributions
• 28 days holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 32 in line with service)
• private healthcare (WL5 only)
• wellbeing benefits to support your physical financial and mental health
• coaching, training, and support such as study leave, to help you develop your skills and progress your career
•   discounts on Co-op products and services
