Our Head of Technical, Stuart Otter and Lead Frontend Developer, Umar Miah headed out to Hyvä Developers Paradise this past weekend.
Here’s a recap of what they saw, heard, and came back with, from product updates to bigger shifts in how commerce, performance, and the Magento ecosystem are evolving.
Hyvä POS
Hyvä POS takes Hyvä beyond the browser and puts it directly into users’ hands, even offline.
One source of truth for your data, with shared functionality across platforms so you can manage everything from one place.
It’s fully native, supports major payment providers, and delivers a seamless checkout experience across devices.
No transaction fees. Just simple, per-terminal licensing.
It’s a strong addition to Hyvä’s growing product suite.

The growth of Hyvä
Hyvä are full steam ahead, building out their ecosystem.
Driven by a community aligned around one goal: to make commerce happy again.
That started in 2021 when Willem Wigman announced Hyvä Theme with real conviction. Since then, it’s grown into something much bigger.
Hyvä translates to “good”, but even that feels underselling it now. It’s become the default choice for Magento for many teams. And for good reason.

CMD Shift Pay: how we buy is shifting
Ksenia Zvereva from Mollie highlighted something important: payments are changing under our feet.
We’re moving from conversational payments to completely invisible ones.
Amazon has already proven the concept, with stores that can take payment without any conscious checkout step.
It’s early, but this is one to watch. Quiet now, but heading to the front of the stage fast.
Magento’s revival
Sergej Derzap, CEO of Amasty, gave a strong talk on Magento’s comeback.
After peaking around 2020, the platform saw a decline. But we’re now seeing a clear resurgence.
And a lot of that comes down to this community, and events like Hyvä Developers Paradise showing just how alive it is.
The AI conversation
AI ran through the event in every direction, as expected.
Vinai Kopp shared how Hyvä is already using AI internally, from improving workflows to strengthening documentation.
The message was balanced: use it, but use it properly. Prompt injection is real, and blind trust isn’t an option.
The takeaway was simple. AI needs intention, not hype.
UX: data over opinion
Tomislav Bilic from Inchoo challenged how UX is often measured.
Too much opinion. Not enough data.
The focus should be clear KPIs and defined success metrics, then continuous improvement driven by evidence, not assumptions.
CSP matters more than ever
Jeroen Boersma, Hyvä’s Security Officer reinforced the importance of Content Security Policy.
Hyvä’s tooling is making CSP easier to implement properly, helping push the ecosystem towards safer, more consistent standards.
Hyvä Media Optimisation
Len Lorijn spoke about something still overlooked across the industry: image optimisation.
Too many sites still don’t get this right.
Hyvä’s updates now include better media optimisation controls, configurable outputs, plus XML-based pre-optimisation coming soon.
With API and CLI support, automation is baked in. No excuses left.
Magewire levels up
Willem Poortman announced Magewire V3 is landing this week.
The standout update is request bundling, especially relevant for Hyvä Checkout.
This solves a long-standing issue with race conditions when multiple components fire at once.
There was also a preview of Magewire potentially extending into the admin. 👀
Web performance monitoring shouldn’t be painful
Karlijn Löwik introduced RUM Vision 2.
The focus is simple: make real user monitoring usable.
With the new API-based setup, performance tracking becomes easier to integrate and actually act on, not just report.
Hyvä CMS developments
Callan Zimmermann closed with a preview of what’s coming in Hyvä CMS, and it’s a big one.
Templates, snippets, and instance components are on the way, allowing custom components to be dropped anywhere on the site.
And for anyone who’s suffered through email templates, there’s email emulation coming too.
A genuinely developer-friendly direction.
The workshops
The day wrapped with hands-on sessions from the Hyvä team.
Amanda Bradley walked through the Hyvä Dashboard, turning what is usually a static Magento landing page into something actually useful, customisable, and data-driven.
More passion, more energy
Jakub Winkler from qoliber delivered a simple but important message: this space only moves forward because of people willing to take risks and care deeply about it.
Without that, none of this would happen.
Final thoughts
You never quite know what you’re going to get at events like this.
Is it going to be relevant?
Am I going to come away with actionable knowledge?
This one delivered.
Practical insight, real direction, and a reminder that this ecosystem is not slowing down.
If anything, it’s accelerating.
Part 2 coming on Friday... see what we got up to with the community & why it matters more than ever.
