Digital Infrastructure North 2026 (DIN26) to convene senior leaders shaping the UK’s digital future

Digital Infrastructure North 2026 (DIN26) will take place on 13 May 2026, bringing together senior leaders from government, infrastructure operators, technology companies and research organisations to help shape the next phase of the UK’s digital infrastructure development, with a particular focus on the opportunities and challenges in the North of England.

DIN26 is a discussion-led forum rather than a commercial conference. It is designed to create a high-trust environment for open, practical dialogue between those responsible for building, operating and regulating the infrastructure that underpins the UK’s digital economy. Attendance is primarily by invitation, with around 100–120 senior participants expected.

The forum is being convened by Manchester Digital, Cooperative Network Infrastructure, Greater Manchester Combined Authority and LINX, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening the UK’s digital foundations and ensuring the benefits of growth are felt across the country.

Why this matters now

The UK is entering a critical phase in the development of its digital infrastructure. Demand for compute capacity is accelerating rapidly as large language models and other data-intensive technologies become central to the digital economy.

At the same time, the country’s infrastructure remains heavily concentrated in London and the South East, where power capacity is increasingly constrained. Meanwhile, renewable energy generation in the North is often curtailed because it cannot be easily transported to where demand is highest.

Northern cities, including Manchester, are home to major research institutions, established digital industries and fast-growing AI and innovation ecosystems. Unlocking the full potential of these regions will require coordinated, long-term investment in digital and energy infrastructure across the North.

DIN26 will provide a focused environment for these issues to be discussed openly, bringing together the organisations best placed to influence and deliver change.

Sponsorship and partnership opportunities

A limited number of sponsorship and partnership opportunities are available for DIN26. Partners will have the opportunity to engage directly with senior decision-makers across government, infrastructure and technology, and to contribute to a focused agenda shaping the future of digital infrastructure in the UK.
